The Farley Mowat boat roofed house is currently located on private property at 20 Catherine Street in Port Hope, Ontario and is considered the largest monument dedicated to Farley Mowat in the world.
Built ten years ago, this permanent structure will be ceremoniously dismantled and professionally reassembled at its new location in Eastside Ganaraska Park near the Public Library. The Municipality of Port Hope and the current boat house owner are in agreement as to the relocation where it will be enjoyed by visitors and residents for years to come.
A crew of professional stone wallers from Great Britain, the United States and Canada will come together for this once in a lifetime event, during the week of October 3-7, 2016 and cumulating with the final work and celebrations on Saturday October 8. What better way to honor the literary legacy of Farley Mowat then to bring people from many backgrounds together on the Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend in Port Hope.
A number of events are in the planning stages including family fun activities both near the new boat house location and at the Port Hope Public Library.
